Okay everyone. Time for the test run. So here is the very first race I am going to run that will benefit CHOC. So the date is the 1st of May, this wednesday on the public holiday. I know this is not a saturday as I indicated on the blog, but this is one of the few exceptions when the race will be in the week. For every other race the standard rules will apply.
I plan on doing the 21 km and will post the race map on the web shortly after the race. So if you plan on sponsering me on this race, please send your sponsor email to me before 8pm on monday, the 29th April 2013.
Keep on running...
Cancer Runner.

LETS RUN TOWARDS OUR GOAL
Did you know that 58% of all people that are diagnosed with cancer will survive it within the next 5 years after being diagnosed? I know, it sounds pretty good doesn’t it; I mean 58% seems like a lot. But, I bet the rest of the 48% wouldn’t agree. In all probability those remaining 48% that didn’t survive it, well they just couldn’t afford it. They couldn’t afford to pay for their lives.
Because having cancer, and surviving it, It’s really expensive. I bet you didn’t know that the overall annual costs for cancer is about $107 billion in America.
But I was one of the lucky ones, I was one of the 58% that did have the resources and belonged to a medical aid that funded my treatment. And because of this, I survived. But what about those less fortunate? That 48% that couldn’t fight for their lives.
This is a problem and the one thing I learned about problems during my treatment is that we can’t run from our problems. But we can run towards our goals. So that’s why I need your help, let’s make my goal, our goal!!!
Let’s team up together and raise enough money in South Africa to fight cancer one step at a time.
So this is how we play: Basically I run and you pay!! (Don’t worry, Ill also pay)
The Cancer Runner blog page is created to raise money while I keep on competing in races on weekends. For each Km that I run, you will donate an amount to the charity fund I chose.
Like all games, here are the rules:
1) First here is the details of charity that we will support.
a) CHOC Childhood Cancer Foundation South Africa.

Banking details: CHOC CCFSA Pretoria
Standard Bank, Killarney Branch

2) Now you get to decide how much you would like to sponsor on each race. It can really be as little as R1/ per km or even up to R100 per km. It’s up to you. I will post the details of the race that I will be competing in on the blog. If there is no race details then I will not be competing in a race that weekend. You can also choose not to donate at all. So you will never be forced to donate if you can’t do it that weekend.
3) All sponsors have to be made known at 8pm on the Thursday before the race by sending me your name and the amount you would like to sponsor per km. Sponsors will be sent to: peterlaw30@gmail.com
4) After every race I will post the race results on the cancer runner blogpage. That way you will know exactly how much you have to donate based on how much Km’s I ran that day.
5) The payment will then be made into the account of the charity directly and you will send me the proof of payment before Sunday.
6) Finally on Sunday I will post all the funds gathered that weekend on the Cancer Runner site to see.

See Guys this way, we are all winners. So if your feet don’t want to do the running, your donations can. Come and join me and let’s reach OUR goal together. Together we can make a difference, even if it is one step at a time.
And remember, don’t run away from your problems, Run towards your goal.
